The Benefits of a Tele Visit

tele visit between man and doctor

You might have a tight schedule. Maybe it takes you an hour just to get to the doctor. Or you might not be available on the day we give you the appointment, especially if it’s days out. Whatever the reason may be, MD365® is happy to announce that we offer tele visits to all of our patients. With technology advancing and the current pandemic, tele visits have become the new norm. Take a look at some of the benefits that a tele visit offers, as well as who benefits from it.

What are the Benefits?

You can speak with a professional, whether you are at work, on the go, or at the comfort of your home. Our doctors can treat minor medical conditions, offer medical advice, treat those that need routine care, and even assign prescriptions. Most insurances cover tele visit services too.

A tele visit gives you support when and where you need it. The average wait time to see a doctor in person is over 18 days, in many U.S. cities. A tele visit is often available on the same day. Tele visits usually last less than 30 minutes, as opposed to spending up to two hours at a doctor’s office. So, if you have an irregular schedule or travel a lot, here\’s the solution.

Tele visits overcome geographic barriers. There’s no commute time or transportation costs.  If you want to save time and money, this is a great alternative. According to a 2019 survey, 75.2% of people thought tele visits were good or even better than in-person visits. Although not every condition can be treated virtually, a good amount of them can be.

Health Conditions that Can Be Treated

A tele visit can treat health conditions such as:

Temporary Conditions

  • Allergies
  • Bronchitis
  • Rashes
  • Colds and flu
  • Infections
  • Minor burns and cuts
  • Sore throat
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Sexually transmitted infections
  • Pink eye
  • Heartburn
  • Preventative visits and counseling visits

Ongoing (Chronic) Conditions

  • Acne
  • Anxiety
  • Asthma
  • Back pain
  • Depression
  • Diabetes types 1 and 2
  • Migraines
  • High blood pressure
  • Erectile dysfunction

Conditions that Require In-Person Visits

Although tele visits offer convenience, they can’t treat every medical condition. Here are some that require in-person visits:

  • Complications of cancer treatment
  • Congestive heart failure
  • Fractures
  • Drug overdose
  • Coughing up blood
  • Seizure
  • Chest pain or palpitations
  • Hemorrhage

What to Expect During a Tele Visit

Our doctors at MD365® will interview you and diagnose your condition and treatment. We will send an after-visit summary containing a care plan. If you qualify for a prescription, we will send it to your nearest pharmacy.

To prepare for a smooth video call, check your internet connection and restart your device before the visit. Make sure that your camera and microphone work properly. The steps in a tele visit are summarized here.
